This week while I was pondering 🤔 what I should write this weeks blog about, I had the opportunity to recall a very sweet memory that I cherish deeply 💗. It was back when I had first started Instagram, this was before I had really established what type of items I liked to make.
I kept seeing 👀 comments all over my posts, teasing and taunting ones; at first I was actually kind of irritated by the comments. They were ones like “I would like this better if....“ or “Almost there..” 🙄
I just couldnʼt figure out what it was that this woman wanted from me 🤷🏻♀️ and I either wanted her to like something or just leave me alone 🙅🏻♀️. I kept finding myself wanting her to comment on my posts, because I was DYING ☠️ to know what she thought about it. Was this finally the item that she was going to love 😍 ?
Then finally she made it known that she needed a custom item made 🙌🏻, and back when I first started I was very eager to please. I took on a couple projects back then that I should have said no ✖️ to and I was sure that this was going to be another one 😨.
However I was completely wrong 🙌🏻 , I totally rocked the project 💪🏻, and now looking back at the photoʼs I am even considering possibly bringing back these items to my shop 🤗.
I will post the photos at the bottom and you should comment below with what you think I should do 👇🏻👇🏻
So this wonderful woman wanted me to make her a feather headband that could double as a necklace, I had no idea 🤷🏻♀️ where I was going to start with that, so I took to the google machine 👩🏻💻 and found some inspiration to help me get through the project.
Now I completely forgot about this project in general until I started to write this, It was her second order from me that blew me away 💨. It came a little while later in the year; she wanted me to make her a belt that was made the same way as her headband, I was Instantly excited 🤗 about this project but I was also nervous 😰 about having to price the item.
And did I mention that she was an international customer? all the way from Down Under 🐊, which by the way was my very first international order. I couldnʼt even handle how excited I was that I was going to send MY creations to an exotic 🌴 place. It was completely mind blowing 🤯, It was definitely a learning experience when it comes to having to convert the money and trying to figure out if PayPal already does it all for you.
Lets just say after these projects were finished, I considered her my friend 💜. Her sale taught me so much; It brought me closer to my Native American roots and it taught me how to fill out a Customs slip for the post office.
Anyway, back to the Belt, she didnʼt even let me price it, she instantly offered me a sum of money 💰 that I had yet to experience getting in one sale. I was able to go instantly to the craft store and stock up on all her necessary items for the project, and still be able to get me my first set of real pliers and wire cutters (And coincidentally wire.) It was the best day ever, and It lead me to wire wrapping shortly after that.
She was also a kind woman 💁🏻♀️, and a gentle woman who knew exactly what she wanted and had no problem waiting for the right time for it to come to her. It was a lesson in so many different ways, and she was my angel in disguise 👼🏻.
I know this story may not sound like much, but it was actually a pretty big stepping stone for Touch Of A Feather, and I wish that I could get in contact with her so I can show her what she inspired.
Every business has a back story, a journey story, and a goal story, but this one is definitely a Journey story. And So many people have had an affect on me in so many different ways. If It werenʼt for all of you coming into my life when you do, and telling me your stories, and ordering what ever insane projects you come up with for me, I wouldnʼt get to learn all these new parts of myself 🙌🏻.
I think that is definitely one of my favorite parts of Touch Of A Feather, it has brought me to so many people that I would have never had the chance to get to know If I wouldnʼt have just taken that crazy chance by trying to sell my creations online 📱.
Risks can be beautiful ✨💗🙌🏻 something I have to keep in mind over the next few months.
So thank you to all of you beautiful souls who have taught me something about you, this world 🌎 and myself 💁🏻♀️, my love goes out to each and every one of you 💜.
